BScOT; DIP, PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING

Cecile Petra

I truly enjoy people, all kinds! I have a sincere desire to learn what makes a person tick, what inspires them, what makes their heart sing and what makes their heart ache. I see a big need on the planet right now for people to be “held” in their authenticity and rawness, to be witnessed in their pain and celebrated in their triumphs. I remember hearing an ancient Chinese proverb once: “Sorrow shared is half sorrow, joy shared is twice joy.” This is the potency of being held.

I have been blessed to have been supported throughout my life, especially during deep crises, by exceptional mentors and wise ones. What a priceless gift this has been for me, and I am honoured to be able to give some of that back to my clients, to help them flourish in whatever areas they choose to focus.

My training as a counselor with Rhodes Wellness College has provided me with foundational tools to support individuals in overcoming personal obstacles and challenges, whether it be emotionally, mentally or spiritually. My 39 years of experience as a registered and practicing occupational therapist, helps to inform my work from the standpoint of healthcare and physical wellness. Some of my areas of special interest are working with individuals dealing with persistent pain and chronic disability, death/dying/grief/loss, and relationship/couples’ therapy. My work is trauma-informed.

I warmly welcome folx in BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

Some of the tools at my disposal are modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, somatic therapy, psychodrama, energy psychology, and career counseling.

If you choose to work with me, my promise to you is to not only accept you fully, as you are, but to hold you capable – capable of growth and healing, capable of meeting your goals, capable of being the master of your life. Let’s discover your hidden treasures that will support your growth, together!

“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.”
